Default factory battery?

I just pulled my car out of storage (6 months) and put the battery in (took it out over winter) and it was pretty much dead so I boosted it. Barely started but it did, so I drove it home, about 35 miles and shut the car off and its still dead. All the way home the lights were kinda flickering so I figured something was wrong. The radio still works, and interior lights, but it won't turn the car over unless I boost it. My question is, the battery worked perfectly fine when I stored it, now it won't hold a charge (so it seems), are these factory batteries that ****ty? Or, could it be something else? Thanks.

I cleaned the posts and connections off and it seems to be working good now. But I will probably buy a new one anyways, lol. Thanks.

Hello,
I don't want to rob the thread but I just ordered a OptimaRed Top I want to make sure I ordered up the right one. It’s the optima group 35. Is it a snug fit in the battery tray? I’ve herd the optimas have a plastic bottom peace that must be removed for them to fit as they are to tall. Thanks for the help

364 posts and you're unaware of the OE MotorCrap battery lack-of-capacity and life? The search feature is your friend and will have that POS out of your life. Interstate, DieHard or Optima, in that order, are my preferences.

BTW, 35 miles of driving is no where near enough time to charge a dead batery. Plus, the car's charginf system isn't really designed to optimally charge a battery that weak or even dead.

+1
Lots more than 35 miles of driving.
More like 2 hours at interstate speeds.....

Like everybody said, OEM batteries are turds. Get an Interstate. A 40R fits like a glove.
