RE: my first oil change on my own
Mobile 1 for sure, but shouldnt you put a few thousand miles on it before switching to full synthetic? That used to be the case, but Im not sure if it applies to the '05s. Anyone care to comment on this?

RE: my first oil change on my own
I'm an AVID Redline oil fan. Better than 500k miles experience with Redline combined. Talked to them. They said should wait 5k miles before change over. Talked to Ford. Said the same, and that Ford does not believe in synthetic. Also something about the rings that Ford uses needing time.
Also and avid beleiver in "Tufoil". www.tufoil.com in you are interested. Some 350k miles experience with Tufoil. I treat my cars right, but run them hard. Last was a four banger BMW which means to get peformance you need to run it hard. Just keeps on ticking. My GMC runs sweet, 146k miles. Tufoil says not to even run their product till 5k miles. I also changed out the tranny and added a 10% mix of Tufoil. Swear it shifts better, manual trans of course!

How many miles are on your Stang? If you are over a couple thousand miles, go with the Motorcraft filter, (available at most Wal-Marts, filter #FL 820 S), and Mobil 1 if you want synthetic. You couldn't ask for better protection for your new baby !

RE: my first oil change on my own
As far as filters go-Motorcraft is good, Purolator Pure One is good. Based on some testing I read, I plan on using A/C Delco in my new '06 GT. Very highly rated filter. I found them, for the 4.6L engine at Pep Boys. I will use nothing but Mobil 1 Extended Performance (once broken in).

RE: my first oil change on my own
I just changed my oil again at 2k miles.
I changed the first time at 250 miles... again at 750 - used "Normal" oil on those.
THIS time I used Mobil 1.
Wow... what a difference!!!!!
She is Quieter then before.
She is smoother accelerating then before.
She runs noticabley cooler then before.
My Local Milage went up 2 mpg and my Hwy milage went from 19 to 23.5.
Funny the difference a good motor oil can make.
