I use Mobil1 filters. Why? Becuase I work in a maintanence shop and I can have the proper Mobil1 filter for free. So even if Amsoil filters or whatever brand is better, it's not worth paying 17$ for the difference

I pay for my Amsoil oil though, we don't carry it. We carry Valvoline synthetics and Mobil1.

If you want (or need) to know exactly what is going on in your oil, I highly suggest you point your browser du jour to http://www.blackstone-labs.com. I send a sample off to them each and every single time I do an oil change on my wife's 200,000 mile 1995 SHO. It told me, for example, that immediately after switching to a K&N filter, the amount of Silicon in the engine increased 200%, and immediately after switching right back to a paper filter, it decreased to nominal levels. It also alerted me to when a rod bearing was about to go (a famous weakness of the SHO engine) by telling me that tin levels were way up and copper levels were high as well (the bearings are copper coated with tin...). A $25 analysis saved me at least a thousand on a new engine...

I highly suggest that if you suspect anything is wrong with your engine, or if you want to know exactly what is going on inside your engine, you use these fine people.

Did I mention that they hand-type each and every single report? They really are top-notch folks.

They send free test kits too. Multiple kits if you request.

This is also a good page:

I always just use the motorcraft filters. If ford makes them im sure they are good enough to get the job done. Cant beat a 30 dollar mobil 1 full synthetic oil change.

Walmart baby! I think the 5 quart jug of 5W-20 Mobil 1 full synthetic was $24 then the Ford Motorcraft filter was a couple bucks, right around $30 total.

Thanks guys. Think I'll go to Walmart. Never usually go there as it's a bit far from where I live. At this price, it's worth the trip.

Most of the bad rap about Frams comes from the "knizefamily" oil filter comparison that was nothing but an eyeball comparison having nothing to do with the filter's ability to do its job...to filter.
