That's weird. Definitely not bright deep red. I used the same kit. I don't remember how many coats I did, but it was however many the directions said. This is what mine looked like right after I did them:

They still look just as good now, 2 years later.

I didn't even realize painting the calipers "cleanly" could be accomplished without removing them (and going through the pain of reinstalling, bleeding the lines, etc.)

I have a Kona Blue Mustang also, and love the red caliper look. I don't care so much for the orange caliper look, though, so let us know how this turns out. In my opinion, none of the Mustang calipers on this thread appear as 'deep red' as the original G2 picture.

I had a dark blue Jetta GLI with deep red calipers -- came from the factor that way -- and it looked awesome.

I've contacted G2 and requested a color swatch for their red paints. I'll get another picture when they send it to me comparing what they think their red looks like compared to what I got. I'm not as disappointed with it now as I was, but I wish it had come out a little brighter red.

I have to decide now if its worth another kit to make it more red, and less orange. Most people on this forum that have compared the two say G2 is the superior product over Duplicolor.

yeah thats Definitely NOT red. Contact the company and let them know they messed up. Sucks!

I got the color swatches in the mail. They actually sent me two, one orange and the other red. I'll post a picture of both next to my calipers soon.

The red was definitely red, and the orange was definitely orange. My calipers are somewhere in the middle.

I'm thinking about another 2 coats of G2 red, ordered from a different site.

Thanks for the update. I actually decided to give it a shot too and ordered the red G2 kit from Stage 3 Motorsports. I'll probably do the calipers in a couple weeks when I take my '08 out of storage.

Wow, I just ordered a red G2 kit yesterday. I sure hope mine don't come out like that. Going to have to test an area first, I guess.

You should try red caliper covers. A lot of the paint wears off during winter, and it will require fresh paint every couple years. Of course the covers are minimum $100.

What are the covers made of? Who sells them?

Aluminum. American Muscle. They are $199. I prefer paint, personally.
