Default CAI Tune or Not

Ok, I am going to get a CAI and wondered if there was a real difference between the tuned and un-tuned ones, Also, what are the best brands and good sites to buy from

Thanks

Put it this way... If you do not get a tune.. you are almost throwing away your money.
Without a tune... you will get less than half the gains.

No tune? 10-15hp prolly
With tune? usually up to 35hp

Get a Brenspeed tune and CAI pkg or go home. If you just get a CAI, its a waste of money and don't even bother. The tune will wake your car up. Having no throttle lag and turning TCS off is loads of fun

Go for a CAI that requires a tune if you are going the tune route.

Go to Brenspeed's site and look at the packages.

I would NOT get one that says you can use it without a tune, some people have had problems using those with a tune and if you use them without they are crap.

As far as K&N I just wouldn't get one.
They have too many things they say don't require tunes for me to be impressed by them. Others may dissagree.

Other than getting one that is REQUIRED to have a tune with it... the brands don't make too much of a difference from what I hear.
I would go with C&L, BBK, JLT, Saleen, or Steeda.

No-tune required CAI = about 3-5 RWHP gain
Tune required CAI w/a GOOD tune = about 20-25 (possibly more) RWHP gain

What was your question again?

Oh... one thing though... I have heard from many that the Bullitt Intake's tube tends to fade in color so if you want it to look nice for a long time I'd get something different than that.

I have an Airaid CAI, which does NOT require a tune and will not cause your car to run rich or lean. However, I felt only minimal HP with the CAI alone (maybe 5-7 HP gain).

I purchased the SCT Xcal3 w/ 3 custom tunes from Brenspeed and all I can say is WOW!!! The tune really woke up my Stang!

I would highly recommend a tune/CAI combo!!!

Good luck with your choices!
