From what I've seen most people put on the hood pins but don't put on the cable, so not only are they fake, but they aren't even looking real.
ya, im a little curious on what you mean to. just cause you take the lanyards off doesnt mean they wont be effective. the lanyards just help from losing the pins.
the only downside of the lanyards i have is that the plastic coating over the wire turned a bad brown rust color for some reason??? and ontop of that the one on my driver side sometimes slips inbetween the hood and fender and has rubbed the paint off so theres a small 1/2 inch spot between the hood and fender where i can see the hoods bare fiberglass. but unless you are looking for it you wouldnt notice it, you would probably just mistake it for wax i missed.

Yeah I'm a little lost on that too Murphdog. If they are real hood pins and not the stick on type then lanyard or not doesn't change their use. They still function to hold the hood down, and some of the pins don't have the lanyard but have a locking pin that stays on the hood so the lanyard isn't needed because the pin doesn't come free of the mechanism.
If you are talking about the fake stick on "hood pin look" type then it doesn't matter there because they are fake with or without the lanyard and won't do anything to hold the hood down.
