I have thought the same that the times are bad when ur spending that much money. WIth that said its not like ur buying a drag strip car either. You will be spending a few more grand on tires and suspension upgrades. I have been to a few street drags and if ur not really good at shifting. Please dont go thinking ur gonna get a 11 second car. I have seen guys with the gt500 go up and get it handed to them with someone with 410's and a few other mods. But the 500's were stock. Just dont grind gears and miss gears as it happens alot when the owners are not very experienced.

If it's going to be your daily driver, then get the '11 GT, but if it's going to be your weekend car and you have the extra $$ get the GT500! It will be worth more in the future than the GT.

The GT500 is the way to go if you can swing it. Stronger engine (though NOT forged), already has a blower, more cubes, lower compression good for boost, awesome looking frontend, worth more, etc. The GT500 has a lot more potential for power. It's the ultimate of mustangs. The king!
I'm pretty sure the gt500 does have a forged rotating assembly.

There's no replacement for displacement
