Take my car to the strip?

older thread, but I gotta do it....................It is a slushbox! a TH400 with a shift kit is a slushbox and so is the one in the s197. The shifts are fast (especially with a progmmr) and efficient . Sorry meng, I don't underestimate them, and I know they're 9/10 times quicker, but I find a manny tranny more fun to drive. Geezus, you're too damn sensitive, or maybe people give you the gears for diving an automatic transmission lol

To the OP, are you thinking of going to Irwindale or to Fontana(or both?). Irwindale is stickier and as stated earlier, drag radials will help the most. CAI will increase HP & gears will help mulitply it, but it's all useless if you can't put it to the ground. Upper & Lower control arms and drag radials will let you hook better and will allow you to be a much better drag racer, then to can add the power to get better ETs..........JMHO

Just go drive the thing with whatever it's got in it, do the best you can, and see what happens. You'll be driving the car that you know.
Concentrate on your driving and forget about mods until you know what you need next. For example, you will need to get your timing down so that your time slip isn't showing horribly slow reaction and 60' times, but you may not need traction help (yet). Find out if you do instead of assuming ahead of time that you do. You might find that you only need a little help, which should affect the sequence that you start swapping parts.
I'd plan ahead of time on throwing at least the first run away as being the run that lets you settle your nerves a bit. Feel free to do this every time you go.
