Default 2010 Ford Racing Charger

Hey Everyone, in the 2010 Mustang Brochure (from Ford)...it lists two chargers that can be added to the GT. One adds 85 HP for a total of 400 HP. The other (which doesn't come with a warrantee) from Ford Racing adds235 HP for a total of 550 HP....it says its for the 2010 GT.

Question: Can the internals of a stock 4.6 on the 2010 really deal with 550HP???? As a street car (no racing), could this engine still be reliable? I know...that's probably why its no gaurantee...but I also can't imagine that Ford would offer it in their 2010 brochure if it wasn't legit.

If it COULD handle it...then a 2010 with all the incentives right now....with a FR Charger making 550HP would be pretty slick, no?

You would think, but FWIW Roush says you can't go over 480WHP withotu the stock motor running thge rick oif a premature death. i spent lots of time looking into the charger before I settled on the roush. The way FRPP explained it to me, even the 400 kit, which is not intercooled, cuts the warranty to 12mo 12K. the roush M90 OTOH keeps the full 3yr 36K warranty and is cheapre. i got mine in last week from Yates performance, cost me $4300 and its intercooled. It gets installed next week! Woot!

thanks shanem...so the M90 is the Roush S/C rated at 435hp right? That's pretty sweet. So if I understand correctly...with your new 2010 GT with the Roush S/c...and no other mods to the drivetrain...the concensus is that 435 flywheel HP is totally handled by the bottom end and transmission?

If so...that seems an interesting path! Do you think any ford dealership will install the Roush...or are there "certified" dealerships?

Thanks for any help! I'm looking forward to joining the club soon

Yes the roush keeps the 3/36. Iy has to be installed by a ase certified mechanic to get the warranty. You can then take the car to any ford deal for service. It Is a sweet deal and amkes the roushe the best fro those who want the factory warranty in my opinion. I got hue blower for 4300 as I said and i found a local company that is actually a roush dealer that will install for 600. That means out the door i am under 5k for trh blower and install. You raleyy cant beat the deal with a blower if the warranty is important to you. The other thing is that you can get more power out of the blower if you want.

For instance the dealer i bought tecar form gave me a wink and a nod as they said a dyne tune can get you an extra 60 hp over the roushe tune and with a sct you can store the roush tune as stock and then flash to your dyne tune. For more power. If you need to go it for rvice you can just go back to the roush tune and you are good for warranty.
