Default How many Turns Out is your MGW?

When I installed the MGW shifter, I turned it out 7 turns. I am wondering how many turns out did you set yours at? I believe I can go to 10 safely, but is there a sweet spot somewhere? I am very curious, so I will set up a poll. Thanks for participating!

bump...come on people

Installing mine today. I've had a hurst shifter before and liked the throw, just not the rattle. Called MGW and they said 7-8 turns should equal a hurst shifter. But they felt like it might feel too notchy with that many turns (more turns = shorter and more notchy). I actually liked the level of notchy that the hurst had.

Back later with impressions and the number of turns....Gonna start with 6.

I have 4 turns on mine. I needed the clearance for my aluminum driveshaft and driveshaft loop.

Trying out 6. The short throw is good. It might be more notchy than I want. I called MGW to ask them how many turns = Hurst and they said 7. And said I probably wouldn't like it that notchy (shorter = more notchy). Its pretty notchy.

I like a little notchy. Haven't decided if this is too much. I might turn it down to 5. Doubt I will go to 7.

Make a fist with your left hand, but relax the fist. Push the middle knuckle on your right index finger between 2 knuckles in your (relaxed) left fist. This is like the stock shifter.

Now repeat this with the left fist more clinched. This is a notchy shifter.

George installed mine and he recommended 4 turns and that's where it's been since he installed it. I haven't tried any other turns but it feels really good at 4 turns and he's the man, so he should know.

I was at 7, and then changed it to 4 turns out. Not as notchy, the throw is slightly longer, but it is much smoother. Caution about the real short throw, although it may seem awesome, you are putting extra stress on the tranny. Correct me if I am wrong, but upshifting when the throw is really short, may cause problems with the synchros and prematuraly where them out. A little bit of delay between the gears is better in the long run.
