Default 3.7L Duratc in my 05 V6?

For those guys who have swapped engines, how much in supporting mods am I looking at in addition to the price of the new 3.7L engine? I want 300 baseline HP without FI. I figure if my current engine fails, since I like my body style better, I would in to crates. I like the V6's numbers with power and gas mileage since I drive a lot.

Will this be as simple as buying a ECU, TCU, tranny, driveline, motor, exhaust, and suspension

or will it be way more expensive? I'm thinking doing a swap and this build is worth it if it comes in under $7k

I looked in to body kits for the new ones but they dont get rid of that ugly rear bumper and those ugly taillights.

If I could put my rear on there I'd be all over it. Any ideas form you 2010 guys on whether an 05-09 rear fascia fits? Thanks!!!

gonna be more than 7k just for the parts you've listed.

why not look into a 4.6 from a wrecked 05+? probably cheaper than getting the new v6... or just boost it.

the rear end from an 05-09 won't fit. the entire body other than the roof line was redesigned.

The new car gets you the new motor, bigger brakes, a better interior, and a 6 speed too.

I don't think it would be cost effective to do the entire driveline swap, IMHO.
Ford had to re-design the 3.7 for RWD use, so you couldn't even get one from a wrecked Lincoln or Mazda.

I tinted my taillights to even out the back end of mine, btw.

what kind of gas mileage do you get from your current V-6 for City and Highway?

the 3.7 swap would run you $5,000 or more...easily. The longblock motor and all accessories alone is probably $5-6,000. Whenever they become available anyways.

but yeah, why not swap a 4.6 3v in there? They get awesome mileage, are a dime a dozen, and tons of people have blazed the trail ahead of you. With all of the guides that are written, there is virtually no guesswork.

as for the gas MPG's, most people can get 17+ city mpg easy, and I know 25+ mpg is easily attained. heck, I have 3.73 gears and drive like a raving lunatic and i get 15.5 mpg with 100% city driving...lots of wheelspin

I always say in these kind of threads that if you're gonna do a swap, make it count.
No exception here.

Get a Stroker 347 or 408 (the best combo IMO) with some aftermaket FI with built in computer and mate this thing to a 5 or 6 spd for gas mileage.
Aim for at least 500hp.

Anything shorter than that, swap the whole car for the real deal.

I am trying to get back to at least 300 from my last car, this 210 (+CAI and tune) isn't cutting it. I want at least 300, but considering I'll be driving 2 hours every day I wanted the 30+ MPG. thats what makes the new V6 so appealing for me
