Was I an idiot for not researching and waiting for the 11?

no, you're fine... i financed an 08 for around 29K and at first i was bummed about the 5.0 coming in 2011 but then i jumped on fords "build your own" for the 2011 and same set-up (obviously minus the 5.0) cost 37K! needless to say, i've been drowning my sorrow in a bolt-on binge... i suggest you do the same!

If i'd payed sticker i would feel like i belonged on the short bus. However, I got almost 4k in rebates and x-plan bonus bucks off of invoice (last month), so i have no qualms. I couldn't have afforded a 2011 with the options i wanted anyway. I figure it will be time for a new stang in 2013 or 2014 anyway, and by then they will fly. Fly i tell you!

Yeah, when i picked mine up i think i got around 3K back... unfortunately for jbarker20 the 2011 will INDEED fly... 0-60 in 4.3 and 1/4 mile in 12.8 @110mph according to Motor Trends latest test...

I practically stole my 2010, i don;t regret not waiting at all. i knew full well the 11 was coming and exactly what it would do. i simply couldn't justify the extra thousands and thousands the 11 would have cost. If i had to do it over again today, i'd still take the 10. Other folks will feel differently. What i know is that in a few years when the redesign comes out I'll be ready to trade, unless you put a lot down on an 11 those owners will probably still be upside down. I put a blower on mine already and I love it, no regrets here. And there were hoards of issues with the 05's, whoever says first year issues aren't a problem anymore needs to look into that.
I took my car to a dealer today to get a gauge issue looked at. the dude asked me where i bought it, I told him i drove to dallas. I also mentioned that i would have bought it there had he had a 5 speed on the lot. He goes, do you know how many times we hear that. He said we simply didn't order enough tens, the rebates are huge, and they are selling like crazy and now they can't get them. Be happy with your ten dude. on the street with an average driver behind the wheel of a 10 and an 11 i bet the two cars will be very close in a real world race.

It's funny, the 2010 owners who were in your shoes and had to spend the money all love their decision (me included) but everyone who doesn't have a 2010 thinks you should just spend more money as if it's no object.
You got a great car, be happy with it. If you over paid, yes I would be dissappointed but it seems like you got a great deal like the rest of us, so congrats. We 2010 owners really made out well, we got a new car for less money then some used s197s, not to mention the better suspension and more power.

You have a kick-*** brand new 2010 GT. Enjoy what you purchased with your hard earned money. If you want more HP, buy a Roush Supercharger or FRPP Supercharger - boom 400-500 HP depending on your set up. If you get caught up in playing the numbers game with HP, you will never be happy.
You didn't get screwed. But you're screwing yourself in your head.

Think of it this way, you're car will look brand new for years to come until they change the body style again! Average Joe Blow on the street wont know if its a 2010,12,14, etc. One of the advantages of having the first year of a body style, IMO.
Enjoy your ride.
