Default Order on 2011 Mustang GT

Hey guys, alright so I put my order in for my 2011 Mustang GT on March 29th, that is if my dealer is not lying to me. Because he said he put in on that date, well I they have been not the most informative people. Anyway he tells me that it is still no VIN assigned could that be true. How long after the order is placed does it take ford to assign a vin number for the car! And once the car is assigned a VIN how long does it normally take the car to be built? Thanks guys! frustrating

Don't hold me and my poor memory to this but IIRC it took about two weeks to get my VIN assigned. Then about a month more for the car to be built/delivered.

The little trick I (and others) used to tell when it was built was to go to the MySync website and register with that VIN. It would tell you the VIN was invalid until the car was actually built then it would give you the build date. I knew before the dealer when my car was built...kinda sad really.

It could be that something you have on order is on restriction and thats holding it up. If the dealer isnt willing to be forthcoming with you Im at a loss. Most dealers are perfectly willing to print out the documentation.

To be perfectly honest with you I have not checked to see if my car has been issued a VIN.

Update: Checked and my salesman doesnt believe mine (went in the system same day as yours) has been assigned a VIN yet but the manager that does the ordering is out until Monday so I will have to double check next week.

PS If the dealer is messing you around I would order from that Washington Dealer on the other Site that has been selling at below invoice since January. I would have it drop shipped right in his lap!

How bout this?

Relax and savor the anticipation.

I've got some process engineering background and I assure you this aspect of the customer relationship is bit non-critical right now compared to all the chaos of readying plants for the upcoming model change.

Congrats. The 2011 GT is going to be a beast.
