Superchargers, I'm at a loss on what to do.
I am going to get one in the near future.
Problem is I have no clue even after some research on what to purchase.
Issues:
This car IS my daily driver. I do NOT want to blow the engine so I want a SC that is safe as can get.
She only has CAI and a tune right now and I want to keep the engine
stock (except for what is in the SC kit), AKA I don't want to have to strengthen the engine for boost etc.
Money:
I do not want a SC that is going to cost me 7k in the end.
I'd like to stay at 6k or lower if possible.
I WILL BE HAVING IT INSTALLED PROFESSIONALLY.
(keep this in mind when price is calculated)
What I want:
Instant boost (if I can on that budget and safety issues)
LOUD WHINE
Over 420RWHP (I'd like to get 450)... if possible safely.
----------------------------------------------
Can I get a twin screw that will give me the instant boost and still
give me the real ease on the engine that won't risk it?
(I know centri's are supposed to be easier on the engine)
Can I even find me a twin screw that installed will cost me 6k or below?
Will a centri give me the RWHP I am looking for?
Is it really THAT much less torque at the low end?
How much will this instant boost come into play anyhow on a
manual tranny? (given how much control you have over the RPMs)
What brands am I going to look at that will give me these things?
The most important things are the safety issues and the price.
Second would come the instant boost.
Help needed and appreciated!

Get the brenspeed vortech or paxton package. With a centri you wont always be in boost. Which is easier on your motor. They are very driveable, and you will see 450rwhp with the $3500 kit. And if the boost isn't instant enough after you have tried that blower add some 4.10 gears

it'll be difficult getting a TS or TVS type blower, professionally installed for much less than 7k, it'll probly cost you more.
a centri would be cheaper, and still give you a lot of power.
considering you bold faced the LOUD WHINE, you should consider a procharger
it is cheaper than a TS, and it is probly the loudest SC out there, and makes big power.

A twin will give you the low-end torque. Some blowers are louder in the whine than others, for sure; and yeah, it's kinda cool hearing that whine from a distance.
Getting a kit that is not the 'HO' (i.e., non-intercooled) will keep boost at lower and safer levels; 425 should be no problem, and should be able to stay in your budget.
But you'll have to decide, twin-screw, centri blower, or even turbo, are all options.
FWIW, I drove around with a Vortech, and it was a nice addition to an otherwise daily driver. (but that was with a V6, not a V8). The centri blowers have enough power, and will be plenty loud as well.

i think for safe, you have to keep it at low boost, and make sure the tune is good.
reliable is up for arguement. whipple, TVS, Eforce, KB, vortech, paxton, procharger are all pretty reliable as long as you dont beat on them too much, and service them as needed.
but for a loud whine my vote is for procharger

Honestly there is no such thing as safe when it comes to a SC.
Rousch SC with the small pulley, LT headers, Cat delete, x-pipe etc etc etc made 430 rwhp on a mustang brand dyno at the Mustang shop in Calgary AB in the fall of 2007 when I last did one for a customer at my previous dealership.
The tuner matt said to go with the whipple next time at 8lbs of boost and it would be at least 35-50 hp more.
The 10lb boost he said is really pushing the envelope of reliability.
Buddy blew up two auto's with a Procharger, another friend blew up the clutch in no time with the whipple.
In the end it is pay to play, get what you want and be ready to write cheques.
100% true statement and anyone who says otherwise is living on Fantasy Island.

p/s don't let fear and common sense hold you back, I'm not

no engine is going to last forever.
boosting an engine shortens its life.
but..........
i'd rather run on a boosted engine and have loads of fun with it 'till it explodes
rather than running a mildly modded engine and only have a little fun for a longer time.
"its better to burn out than to fade away"
