Default Aftermarket Tires

I have the stock 235 50 18's on my 2006 GT. I was thinking about upgrading to 255 45 18 instead. Does anyone know if my stock rims will fit this size? If so, has anyone else upgraded from 235 50 18 to 255 45 18 and do you have any pics? Thanks!!!

ya you should be able to easily fit a 255 size tire. I just put Nitto 555 255/50/17s on my stock bulitts. Great all around tires and cheap.

The tire specs on sites such as tirerack will list what rim widths are recommended for a given tire size. Do a search by tire size and pick from any of the results and choose the specs for that tire. I believe that you can as wide as a 255 on your stock wheels, assuming they're the 18 x 8.5" rims.

Yes they should fit no problem. I have the same size on my front rims and they are 8 inch's wide too.

The max recommended (typically) for 8" width rims by the tire manufacturers is 245. I doubt 255's would be a problem providing you're not pushing hard thru the twisties or the such.

Does anyone who has installed this size tire have any pics to post by any chance? Just trying to see what it will look like w/ a different tire. Thanks all

I have 255/45/18's front and back. I bought my car that way. I have had no issues. Although I have no pictures right now, I will try and upload some.

The reason I was thinking about upgrading is b/c I think that's the stock tire on the Shelby and I thought it looked cool. Plus it's also a wider tire.

Oh yea, its wider as the first # would indicate in MMs.
18x8.5" is the OEM size so if your rims are OEM, they are 8.5" wide.
The size and width is cast into the back of one of the spokes on the rim.
Pics of 255/45-18 BFG G-Force KDWIIs on OEM 18x8.5" rims.
Steering stops required....
I am going to 275/40-18 next time, though.
Both sizes are ame revs per mile as OEM so no
speedo calibration needed.
