Exclamation 05+ In-dash stereo advice?

I currently have a Shaker500 setup going on, but I want to install a 7in. touch screen. Is there anything I need to do to bypass the factory amp? and do I need to buy an install kit that the double-din fits into? Also if anyone has any recommendations towards brands? Dont really want to spend over $500 and i dont need NAV because i have a garmin. Thanks!

Exclamation 7inch

Search the threads this is exhausted. Super simple swap with pictures and everything. Go on ebay you can get a setup cheap. Avic d3 is really popular, hard to get the NAV updates though or something.

FWIW I love the newer JVC navi units, had one in my last car and they're awesome! plus you can play DVD's and enter navi addresses while moving. most newer units detect the movement through the GPS and own you the JVC's just warn you at every startup, I like that over not being able to enter addresses unless I"m at a stop

I usually go to Crutchfield.com and do my looking there. They are good at matching what fits. Then once you have found the system you want, go search for the best price.

There are some really good threads on this subject. You can get the wiring harness adapters and trim kit at your local stereo store. Basically the shaker 500 uses the head to power the small upper range speakers. It has a separate amp for the door mounted sub woofers. With the correct harnesses you can provide low level audio to the existing sub amp or you could power them with the addition of a new amp. JUst depends how much bass you want.
