Default Ready to try Seafoam

OK, I have read so many testimonials about using Seafoam I'm ready to try it. Where do you recommend introducing the Seafoam into the intake system? I have an '06 GT. As I understand it, you add some to a vacuum line and put some into the fuel tank - right?

Step 1

After warming up your engine. Keep the engine running at a high idle and locate either the PCV valve or the brake booster vacuum line. Choose which one you'd like to use and disconnect it.

Step 2

Using the PCV valve pour about 1/3 of the can in. If you use the vacuum line, pour 1/3 of the can into a container and then use the vacuum line to suck it out of the cup. If the engine stalls before you get it in, try sucking the fluid in slower. You may want to cover part of the line with a finger. When you have 1/3 of the can in the car turn off the engine.

Step 3

Pour 1/3 can of Seafoam into your gas tank.

Step 4

Pour 1/3 can of Seafoam into your oil via the crankcase.

Step 5

Wait about 5-15 minutes.

Step 6

Start the engine back up. You may need to give it a little gas to keep it from stalling. Expect to see a fair amount of smoke, so you'll want good ventilation. Do this at night or away from people to avoid bugging the neighbors. Idle your car for a few minutes and then take it for a drive.
#
Step 7

Expect to change your oil in the next few hundred miles. Seafoam is not for long term use in the oil.

Good instructions. Thank you. I'll do it right before my next oil change. I assume this is based on a 16 oz. can

I was thinking about trying seafoam when I do my spark plugs at 30K. I really don't want one of those plugs snapping in half in my head.

It's actually a lot easier/healthier for your engine/prevents hydrolock if you put a funnel in the line and then pour it in slooowly rather than putting a hose directly in a container. There are instructions on the Seafoam website which explicitly advise you not to take that approach (though I suppose the finger over part of the hose might help).

I think anything after 70K would be ok, right around then is when all the carbon and other bad stuff starts building up. Just my opinion lol
