Lightbulb High Mileage GT Owners advice needed.

Hey guys,
I may be purchasing a high mileage 05 GT in the near future and I wanted some advice and knowledge from you. ANy insight is helpful but mainly I want to know what are some problems I should look for and what should I replace if I do purchase it. Thanks

Spark plugs might seize to the heads. Pinion seals tend to fail. Some have reported interior leaks near the fuse panel on the passenger's side footwell. Search for the list of TSB's and go through the list on each car you're interested in.

Alright. I know about the leak (I had it on my current car). I just wondered if anyone could tell me some maintenance things I would be concerns about (like should I replace the clutch, brakes, etc).

Pads are easy to check. Even if they are close to needing replacement it's a normal wear item and fairly cheap and easy to do on your own.

Regarding the clutch you can do some testing on your own to see if it's slipping or not.

I can tell you that on my 69,000 mile daily driven '06 GT, I have no mechanical issues. I even have the original front brake pads on it.... Even I was surprised by this fact. I, religiously change the oil every 3k-5K with full synthetic and change trans fluid and filter when recommended. If the car has a good paper trail of routine maintenance, you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice guys. The car has 98k miles which is somewhat worrisome. But since I have a v6 I can;t expect high $$ for selling mine and I can most likely talk the GT down to 10k, which is a decent deal IMO. I just don't want to buy the car drive it for two months and have it take a major dump lol.

Yowza... $10k sounds high for an '05 with 98k miles on it... especially if it's a coupe.

I paid $16k for my '05 GT 'vert with 22k miles on it last August.

I saw a GT here with just over 100k miles sell for 9.5k so 10 doesnt sound too bad to me, whats he actually asking for it? I didnt see a price

I paid 13K for my 06 with 88k but the thing has every single little maintenance done and signed off by ford, it had a couple goodies that I enjoyed (hurst shifter, lowered, aftermarket rims, exhaust/intake/tune, and it was IMMACULATE). And it came with a 5 year/100k (additional) mile warranty
