Default Factory Stereo 4 Speaker Type

Just my opinion here. I've had my Mustang for several weeks now and it has the 4 speaker standard stereo system. The system isn't bad. It's not going to rock the block or anything and that is fine with me because frankly I find obnoxiously loud stereos to be obnoxious. Anyway, I have been tinkering with the settings to find the best overall sound form this system, at least best to me. Try setting the front to rear fade setting two notches towards the rear. This seems to give the best all around sound and lessens the tendency of the front speakers to try and overpower the audio. It also reduces the vibration of the bass notes to lessen the rattle effect in the front speakers. I keep my bass two notches in the + side and my treble dead even. Some of you other guys with the base model stereo give it a try and see if you agree with me. Maybe I'm just full of it, lol. Anyway, next step is to find some JL audio 6 x 8's for the back.

PS, I should note that this is the 2010 Mustang, I don't know if that system uses the same speakers as the 09 and previous.

That's pretty close to the settings I have, but electronics package gives me an option to maximize the driver's seat, both front seats or the back seat. I set my tone and balance for the best sound (like I said, similar to your settings) and then I hit the maximize for driver and that seems best for me.

Some posters here have suggested that changing the door speakers give a better uptick to sound than changing the rears. JBL's seems to be the speaker of choice from Crutchfield.

I keep my settings close to what you have. I did chanee my speakers out and installed some Kicker 6"x8" in both the front doors and the rear deck. Much better midrange response than the stock. Very crisp now.

Thats about where I had mine when it was stock also. But now it's exceedingly obnoxious.

Not sure the Base Stereo is still the same 160W as the 2005-2009 but my 2007 is set about like yours (Although I tend to vary it a bit with music type) and to tell the truth I find the highs less muddy than in the Shaker Systems. Might just be because theirs less bass to cover it up and Im a old fart.

I will let you know how I feel about the 2011 Base Stereo when my 2011 comes in (if I dont die of old age first).

Wilkinda, how tuff is it to get the door skins off and are there any one time fasteners that have to be replaced to get it back on?

By the way that grabber blue looks bad ***.

Thanks mondo, that helps me out a lot. I probably would have missed the second torx screw behind the door handle.
