Default What I did this weekend (valve covers)

Well, this project has been on backburner for a while until I finished my current phase of flight training. I finished last week, so my new valve covers went on.

I bought some take offs on ebay, and then found a guy in Alabama that gave me a great deal on powdercoating. I used TacoBill's write up (big thanks to TacoBill) and the whole job took a little over 3 hours. The only hitch that I had was that after they were installed, I was moving the wires over the passenger side back into place and I snapped the connector on my COP. This led to having a spark plug not firing on that cylinder. So I ran down to autozone today and picked up a new COP assy for 40 bucks and had it installed in 10 minutes. Now it runs great, and looks even better. What a great project.

To answer the other question I'm sure to get, yes I still have my old valve covers. I was going to let my wife ebay them, but if someone wants to PM me a reasonable offer, it'll save me the hassle (well, my wife anyway).

Thanks again for the write up TacoBill!

Thanks. It was a tough call between red and yellow. Either would have looked great, but the deciding factor was that I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull my silver stripes within the next year or so and replace them with red, so I figured this will tie in nicely.

Yeah, I had to drive there twice. He is out in the middle of the country just south of I-10 halfway between Pensacola and Mobile. He just has a little shop surrounded by cow pastures. He does a lot of roll cages as a side business, and he did my covers for 50 bucks. He had a whole bunch of color options, and told me if I was willing to buy some other color and bring it in, he would spray it with that as well. I just wanted a hod rod red color, so it was simple off the shelf.

Ohhk, lol. I'm in north AL so that'd be too far of a drive for me, but **** $50!!? What a deal! They look great!
