Too small.

255/40-18 is enough smaller in diameter from 255/45-18 (which is an OE size on the 2008 GT500) to clearly notice. Load capacity is close enough to make up with a couple psi or so more inflation.

255/35-18 is so much smaller that it will look lost. And it has a load capacity better suited to my 2900 lb Mazda 626 than any S197 Mustang. All by itself, this part of the combination is bad enough that you should just pass on this deal.

Stick - it's not the wheel diameter that matters much here, it's how well the tire OD fills the wheel well. What you DON'T see in a huge wheel well makes it look empty, and the wheel/tire ends up looking kind of scrawny as a result.

..and I agree that, that is too small of a tire. Not for our cars. Maybe if it was a small-compact-tuner car.

No way. I thought I was the only one who didn't lower their car around here.

These are 235-50 ZR 18" ... not lowered. I think 45's would be the minimum for me. These 50's in the 235 width fill the gaps just fine, IMO.

I was thinking they were going to be too small also, guess I just needed advice from my fellow MFers. Thanks for all the input, the search goes on.
By the way, if anybody wants a deal on (2) 255/35/18 (new) & (2)255/40/18 (100 miles) Toyo Proxe T1R. Look at Craigslist Atlanta, guy in Douglasville has them for $450.00

you can fit a can of coke between the tire and fender on the stock tires at stock ride height... way too much gap stock imo
