Best RPM to shift for 1/4 mile times?

My 05 has 3.55 gears, 5 speed, JLT CAI, 93 octane Brenspeed tune, UDP's and some suspension mods. The original max HP RPM was 5750 and before the tune, it really didn't want to rev above that. But now it will easily rev above 6k. I do not go to the track very often, but wanted to know what shift RPM will achieve the best 1/4 mile times? Ed

redline is 6000 rpm and that's where I shifted at the track. on my car I was trapping in 3rd when it was bone stock. typically shifting at peak HP is your best bet and these cars make peak HP at redline especially after some mods.

Just before fuel cut. Shifting out at max power will probably make you slower because you fall even further out of the powerband.

Thanks.

Isn't shifting at 6k rpm really bad for the engine? Im just guessing here, but I could be wrong.

Why would it be? I mean, its not good to do it everytime you drive, but as long as you don't bounce it off the rev limiter every time, you should be ok.

Shifting at 6K or above once in a while shouldn't hurt the engine. You want to shift above your peak hp so in the next gear you will be close to the peak of the power band.

it's only bad if that's how you drive 24/7. anything done to an extreme is bad, in moderation like an occasional trip to the track or romp on a freeway on ramp and you're fine.

Drive it like you stole it! :) :) :)

I WOT/Red Line shift at least 2 to 3 times a day!

Whatever tuner you have go into it and turn all the RPM limits to 6800. Shift at around 640o. These cars like to rev and you will get better ETs and trap with a some extra RPMS.
