Default 427R vs GT500

I have been looking for a good deal on an 08-09 GT500, and stumbled across this car, not to far from where I live (thanks to autotrader.com). Was wondering if it is a good deal, and which would be a better buy between this and a GT500? I'm not really concerned with resale value, but more interested in performance. BTW they also have a Roush P-51 with 2K on the odometer for about $7K more, but that's way out of my price range..

I'd wait until you can snag a GT500 used with 10-12K miles on it for 32-34K$.

I've seen them pop up from time to time. Just be patient.

There are others up right now with less than 10K miles. Asking $35K or less. Just do a search.

I'd be all over a GT500 for that price. 427R is tight, but I'd rather have the 5.4, blown..

to me the 427r body kit looks UGLY, its too ricer and ruins the classic looks that ford used from the original mustangs. its also a long ways from a gt500. heck I think a used GT500 if you can get one around 32 grand might just be the best deal going, even a better deal than getting a brand new 5.0, a pully change alone will mean the GT500 is putting out some serious power.

Get the GT500. Overall better car, unless you plan on road racing. Then I'd get the 427R.

...those are definitely some great prices....$32,995 for the white one that has already had the blower pulley swapped and $34,000 for the black one having the red appearance package...just have to really look at their over all condition to make sure they were taken care of

Looks like very few here know much about a Roush 427R. I will certainly not put down a Shelby, Great Car !! Just depends on what you want. If you were looking at a new Shelby with 540 HP, I would say definitely say go with that over the 427R. However, When you are looking at a 08 or 09 Shelby, People who know these cars would definitely say that the 427R is a better overall car when looking at balance and performance. Also 427R is a much more rare car although that means little to some.

Ford has made quite a few changes to the new Shelby to get the Performance and handling up to the level of the top of the line Roush. And many don't know that all of the blower and high performance parts on a Shelby have been developed by Roush Not Shelby on the GT 500.

You would have to buy a Shelby out of the Las Vegas plant to get Shelby developed engineering. Ie - Shelby GT - King of the Road - Super Snake

Good Luck with your decision !!

with a pulley upgrade and tuning the 427R will run with a stock GT500 all day long. be close enough to make it a drivers race. pulley upgrade the GT500 though and goodbye 427R

on a straight line, the GT500 is the clear winner day and out. give it some twisties though, and the GT500 will have it's *** handed to it by the 427R.

it really depends on your plans. now, that P-51 you are talking about really piques my interest. Sure they are asking an extra $7k. but as the old saying goes..."Money Talks, Bull**** walks".
Walk in there with Cash or bank check in hand and offer them GT500 pricing on that P-51. If it's been sitting for a long time, they might just want it gone.

much much rather have the P-51 honestly
