The oil never gets remotely dirty so that makes it easy for me to notice when something's awry.
I see. You "look" at your oil and can tell that the additive packages are on the verge of depletion. Neat trick. Even black oil often retains all of it's protective properties. You can NOT tell oil condition by it's color.

Isn't America great? Where else can companies get so rich on the fear they instill in the general public? I'm still kicking myself in the azz for not buying stock in oil companies.

Full synthetic, change mine around 4k miles (which is about 6 months for me and always make sure I am buying it when on sale). Most of my driving is to, at, and back from the drag strip (over a 100 passes per year). I may be changing it too often, but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, so what the hell.

most people in America are probably throwing away money changing their engine oil too frequent. I've ran Castrol 0W-30 full syn oil to 10,000 miles, sent it for oil analysis, and the oil still had 15% life left with the least amount of wear my engine had ever seen. I was shocked to find little on the magnetic oil plug and the analysis results. Stop throwing away your money people. I will not dump my oil fill until 7500 miles or greater running the best full synthetics.

I live in oil country=shareholder=supporting my neighbours Its alright if I change at 300-500 miles yes. Thats all I drive it in a year so is this alright? I figure 10 bucks a month for oil is the same as a couple of coffees at Starbucks and I don't drink coffee

Why not just run regular dino oil? Your motor wont know the differents.

Do what the manual says. I think for 05-07 its 5k miles of semi synthetic. For 08+ its 7.5k miles semi synthetic.

I personally do every ~5k miles of mobil 1 full synthetic and a motorcraft filter for my mustang and every ~5k miles of motorcraft synthetic blend and motorcraft cartridge for my fusion.

Cant beat a 30 dollar full synthetic oil change and a 15 dollar synthetic blend oil change.

My manual says 7500 with normal operation. I usually do 6000-7500 miles. If you change it at 6000, that's double the old traditional 3000 so, that's good thought that you're not throwing money/oil away too early.

Semi-synth Motorcraft oil. Whatever the factory weight is. With a motorcraft filter, every 5K miles or so. Not sure why everyone acts like an oil connoisseur but with very little to back up their fancy tastes.
