Car died and wouldnt run after carwash...
Hello everybody...
I recently installed new spark plugs and a Novi HO on my car. It has a mail ordered Brenspeed tune, and seems to run pretty good.
Today I got my new bumper installed, and went to wash the car. Ran fine in the wash, and leaving it. But a minute later at a stoplight, I put it in gear and eased off of the clutch, and she just died. Tried to start her back up, wouldnt happen.
Pushed her back into the car wash parking lot and popped the hood. There was water on top of the COPs and the air filter felt wet. I have a Ram Air hood... Took the filter off, MAF felt dry, idle position sensor looked good, everything was still tight...
After about 15 minutes I cranked her again and she started. Kept my foot on the gas to keep her running, and tried to make it home. After a few more minutes, all problems cleared up and it ran perfect again.
Anyone ever experience this problem? Im guessing something got wet, and slowly dried out. I appreciate any advice...

I know my sister had a problem like this with her Pontiac earlier this spring after taking it to a car wash. The cars electricity started going nutso and then stopped working all together. Car wouldn't start. The PCM got fried cause water got in it. Hopefully this has nothing to do with that kind of issue. Sounds like it's running good now just double check everything. This is why I hate car washes and try to always clean it myself.

I know it doesn't have the water leak issue, been down a long road there...
And, Nuke, yeah I did... It was a brushless one and I was in a hurry, didnt think it would hurt anything... But I will definitely be doing everything by hand now.
I think I got water somewhere... Either the air filter or the plugs...

lol, that's what I was gonna say!
I'd guess water got onto the MAF. MAF's are pretty picky to that kinda thing and it'll throw off all of your air/fuel ratios which is probably why you stalled. even though everything looked dry there was probably still moisture in the system until you got a few miles on it.
at least it fixed itself!
