Default SCT X3 Tuner for 06 GT

Hello,

I purchased an SCT X3 tuner from Americn Muscle that is suppose to be customed tuned for my 2006 Mustang GT. It comes with a choice of (3) different tunes: street tune, performance tune and race tune. When I tried to program any of the three tunes, the car would not start. I had to put the stock tune back into the car and then it started back up. I don't know what I could have done wrong. I would appreciate any advice.

seems like a technical problem, i'd recommend calling up AM and speaking to their customer service. They really help!

Definatly call AM and they will figure it out. I would guess the computor numbers are wrong so the tune is not matching up with your car computor. I forget the term....something code?

Sounds like an issue with the sequence code. No biggie. AM can fix this easily. Has your PCM been flashed over by the dealer?

Did you install a cold air intake as well?
Call AM, I am sure they will be able to resolve your issue.

Keep us posted on the resolution.
Just in case someone else comes across this same issue, we will know what it could be. ;-)
Good luck!

I mentioned a "sequence code." I meant to say "strategy code" which should be 7 digit code. You should be able to pull the strategy code for the stock tune on the SXT3 by viewing the "vehicle info" on the devise. Of course, you have to have the SCT plugged into the PCM. If the PCM was reflashed, it may not match up with the 4 digit code on the sticker on top of the PCM in the engine compartment.

Default Update Resolution

Thank you all again for your advice. I called American Muscle and explained the problem I was having with the scanner and the car not wanting to start under any of the custom tunes. They asked me if I had been to Ford dealer for service since I have had the car. I told them I did have the transmission maintenance service done on it. They said the Ford dealer almost always will send the most recent update the car's computer, which is great, but what they fail to do after the update is finished, is to replace the sticker of the old code on the computer box underneath the hood with a new updated code sticker. So when I originally e-mailed the code to American Muscle, they programmed the custom tunes for my car based on the old code, therefore the tuner was not making a correct match to the vehicle's new update and it caused the problem I was having. They were able to walk me through everything over the phone and had to create new custom tune for me based on the new code. They said this is a very common problem people run into if they have had their car serviced at the Ford dealer for anything. Everything is great now. Thank you again for your replies.
