Why the 5.0 over a 370z?

So... just do that to the 5.0...
I was deciding between the 370z and the 5.0. I went with the Stang because I can fit 2 more passengers in the back. I'm looking to get into Auto Xing and I know that the 370z handles a lot better than the 5.0... but I'm sure I can get a good spring and shock set up to fix that issue.

The best part is when you drive away with that $36K Vette it will be worth $36K. When you drive away with that new 370z or the Mustang for that matter they are worth maybe $32K or less.

I'm not just saying this because I like Mustangs, because I also like Z's too. But if I had a choice between 370 or the new 5.0 it would be the 5.0 hands down no questions asked. It's better in nearly any way that you can look at it. However if you were to ask if I would have a 2010 GT or a 370 then the decision for me would probably be different.
The problem for me with the 370's is that to an untrained eye it's just a 350Z, and lately I see way to many 16 year olds cruising around in them.

And do not forget. $36K will get you a GT500. Low 12s easy here too. A GT500 will hold its value better than all of the above. It would be the least refined. But that can be fun.

5.0 all the way I have always loved any american car and while the z is a cool car for asian cars i still think the mustang is the way to go call me overly patriotic but you got to go with the mustang and eat apple on the day you buy it.

Surprised no one's mentioned this....what happens when your out of warranty and the repair bills start coming? Nissan's are stupid expensive when it comes to parts, and haven't exactly had the best reliability as of late. The 2.5 and 3.5 in the altimas/maximas/350s/g35's, etc, are CRAP.
General rule of thumb on Nissans are, get used to replacing random sensors every 6 months or so. One of the more common failures is the cam position sensor too, and IIRC, it's like 7 hours of labor to change it.
This is coming from the guy who works in a parts store and sells parts all day long.

i would consider getting a used gt500. you should be able to get one for around $36,000 and it will hold its value MUCH better then either the 370z or the new 5.0

What do you expect? Mustang guys will sway you to a Mustang, 370 guys will sway you to a 370.
I considered a 370/g37 over a Mustang when I got mine (traded in a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3), but between the stupid high insurance rates, higher pricing, questionable reliability, lack of back seat, and knowing that nissan parts are outrageously expensive (worse than mazda), Mustang won out.
I don't know if the 3.7 is as bad as the 3.5 or 2.5, but those motors were crap. The 2.5 was especially bad, burns more oil than gas, intake butterfly screws back out and the engine eats them, catalytic converters clog up and gernade motors left and right. If Nissan does a real crappy job designing a few motors, who's to say their new ones are any better?
Food for thought, BMW 135i and Hyundai Genesis Coupe are also in your price range. Yeah, BMWs have insanely expensive parts, but all sched. maint. is included for 4 years IIRC, and they've gotten to be pretty damn reliable. Same with Hyundai, 10year 100k warranty? There is some piece of mind there.
