2007 Low Mileage Shelby VS 2011 5.0?
Good morning everyone,
Long time reader, occasional poster here.
Just totaled my 2008 GT and expect to do pretty well in the settlement. So here's the dilemma:
Found a super low mileage, 2007 Shelby GT500 for roughly the same price as the 2011 5.0 that I wanted to get. My problem is that this car is going to be a daily driver. I have owned mustangs all my life, but never a FI beast quite like the Shelby, and I am worried about the miles I will be putting on her driving to and from work with all the extra moving parts. Not too concerned about the actual monetary value, because I think cars are for driving, not investments.
Just wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts on the reliability of a GT500 as a DD.
Thanks in advice for your thoughts...
Mark

Mark, usually I would say no brainer pick the GT500, BUT in your case because it will be your DD, get the 2011 5.0. Shelby parts are more expensive to replace and repair compared to a Ford Mustang.
Now if you had another car to drive, the GT500 is a rarer car and would have more value in the future but by putting a lot of miles on it everyday would slowly decrease that value.
I'm sure you'll be happy with the 5.0. Plus it will be under warranty.
