Default 2011 - 2Weeks

It occurred to me that many of my postings could be seen as critical (minor details and quips regarding design), so I thought I’d add a post after my first two weeks with the 2011 V6. I ordered it in Dec and received it a couple of weeks past. Ford has done its job well! I’ve order a 2000, 2005 and now the 2011. This model does ascend to meet all the accolades it has received in the press. Inside the car simply feels more refined, the materials are noticeably upgraded, the seats more bolstered. But the first thing I noticed as I drove it off the lot – how tight the whole feel was in suspension, handling and ride. Add to that a noticeably quieter drive and the fun level just got turned up to 11. While we’re on the inside, the Navigation/Entertainment system is just sweet! The large display, entering my destination by voice, the Birdseye view, the graphical eq bouncing to the beats, the multiple windows, the travel-link gas prices and weather map, the HD radio, the whole Sync music USB and Sat functions…all by voice, that large rear view camera, the blue-tooth phone and sending reports to MyFord. Add to this all of the ambient lighting, halo mycolor and lighted door sills…and the whole look is dazzling at night. On the outside, well as someone recently said to me – they can’t think of a bad looking year for the Mustang (with the exception of the whole Mustang II thing – which I owned one too and it was a work horse…pun intended). The 2010/11 backend may not strike all Mustang fans but I like it. The 2010/11 Powerdome hood looks great. And what about under the hood…. Well I’m still in my break-in (I know, I’m old school…I’m doing it anyway) but I had to punch it just a little the other day to get out from behind a rock hauler…and it did not disappoint. While the low end power-band is not that of a GT (neither is the MPG), but this engine can deliver and it brings even the 6 into the true sports car realm. All this to say – FORD you did GOOD!!

So far with my 3.31 6MT I have gotten 28.5MPG over a 180 mile run at speeds between 55 and 80. In mixed driving I am seeing about 23-24 MPG. I'll have more reliable numbers as I drive it a littl eore, but I only have 400 miles overall.

do NOT get a 2010 GT. Get the 2011 V6. Same power way better gas mileage, better interior, better features. SYNC is amazing.

Since you are hard on money, you will want the Gas Mileage and since you said this is going to be your DD, you will definitely want the mileage. (my V6 is my DD as well)

I have a 2011 Kona Blue V6. I love it, only a couple minor problems:

1. Driver Seat squeaking, just needs to be tightened, this most likely not in all.
2. Rattling noise inside the dash when driving over bumps or broken/cracked concrete roads.
3. takes a while to shift from 1st to 2nd gear (Automatic).

Other than those 3 things, the car is GREAT! i run 32-38 MPG on this highway around 65 mph. at 75-80 mph i still average 28 mph. (i have tested these results everyday in traffic and empty highways for last 3 qweeks. I get the same results every time.
