Test drove a 5.0, not real impressed
I test drove an 2011 5.0 convertible today and I have to say that I am not all that impressed; am I the only one here?
For a car that is suppose to have 400+ HP it just wasn’t that fast and the suspension felt like a caddy…just plain mushy!
Now I understand some of that is perception on my part because I rode into the dealer on my 2008 CBR1000RR so any car I drive feels slow in comparison.
On top of that the car was a vert and my 07 GT has Tokico dampeners that are stiff.
All of this could mean my perception is a bit skewed, but I have to say I was just feeling very mehhh!
I will say I like the new interior a lot and I am now convinced whatever I buy next will be a vert!
What do you guys think of the new 5.0, love it or hate it?

I wonder if it is the throttle response. That plays a big part in perception. The 4.6 with a stock tune feels anemic to me at anything but WOT. With a tune it feels so much quicker. Maybe the 5.0 is the same??

The 5.0 has been hyped up soooooo much on here that I am not suprised you weren't impressed. But I think riding up to the dealer in the CBR1000RR didn't help that much either, lol. Hopefully my dealer will get one up here soon so I can test drive one for myself.

I had traction control off the whole time and it just seemed week.
When I had the intake and 93 tq tune on my 07 it was so nice and it "seems" that was faster then this 5.0.
Dunno, maybe I have just been riding my bike so much lately that anything else seems slow.
I guess 178HP @ 440lbs has its advantages!

I'd think it could be a combination of things (CBR, former car having a tune, etc), but riding up on the CBR definitely has a big speed perception influence. I've driven both the 4.6 and 5.0 in their stock form (back to back) and there is definitely a very noticeable improvement in power with the 5.0. So, IMO, your experience with the 5.0 was influenced by the CBR.

all in your head. even with bad throttle control and TC...the 5.0 still has +100 RWHP on tap.
I'd love to try one of those puppies out. But not a single 5.0 out here yet. Nor will they be for a few months
