I'm Getting a Mustang!
Hello all...Just made this account and the switch over from chargerforums.com...I had an 06 Dodge Charger that I just hit 3, yes 3, Deer with on tuesday morning and the insurance company just totaled it yesterday...now I know your thinking "why's a mopar guy coming here" well I'm not a mopar guy...lol I've been a Ford guy my whole life and got soooo much **** from my grandfather and father for driving a dodge...but, the wait is over and now I'm looking into an 05 GT. The one I have in mind has a flowmaster setup and a BBK CAI...any input on those from those who know best? I did a little bit of research and felt that SLP Loudmouths had a great sound, any word on those vs the flowmaster? Also, mustangs have axle-back exhausts correct? any difference between axle-back and cat-back? Any and all help with this would be much appreciated! Also if anyone has a line on a GT with around 60K on it my price range is around 15ish...thanks and I hope to get to know this forum as well as my last...

Well I just got an H pipe with flowmasters put on Monday along with cams. Here is a video of mine. The flowmasters give the cams a great idle and part throttle sounds really good. However WOT is a bit loud. I have heard that there is a break in period for flowmasters so we'll see

I have flowmasters on my stock manifold and midpipe. They sound awesome!

Congrats!
As a Mopar guy who ended up with a Ford (Because I think the Mustang is the best thing available at the moment) I can understand the internal struggle of driving "the other brand."
The Mustang does use an axle-back setup and the SLP Loudmouth exhaust is a great choice so long as you can get away with pretty loud idle (at start up) in the morning. Under WOT, they are quite loud but have a natural sound rather than the "smoothed-out" echoey sound that a lot of the other axle backs have...plus they're MUCH lighter than most axle back setups which is a major plus, IMO.
If the car has a CAI, he must have a tuner as well... Make sure he gives that to you along with the stock intake so you can return to stock to get through emissions.

How would u compare them to the flowmasters. Are they louder at WOT do u think. They do have like a cackling sound at WOT (flowmasters) but idle is awesome with my cams. It is a chamberer exhaust. I have heard that these will have a break in period. Not sure what people mean by that could be bs i suppose.

I do have a set of Flowmasters on my V8 Dodge Dart (small block) and they have the same sound quality that pretty much all Flowmasters have-- that slightly echo-ish, rounded note that sounds pretty sweet but possibly not as raw or natural as the SLPs.
Assuming the Mustang system is similar, I think the FMs sound like a louder version of a muffled car while the SLPs sound like a quieter version of a car with wide open exhaust...the SLPs being much louder overrall.
The 4.6 motor is one of the best sounding engines out there and making it louder is almost always a good thing (IMO). It's hard to go wrong with axle-back exhausts but the best way to compare them is to check out clips on Youtube.
Yes the Mustang has axle backs... The difference when you buy axel backs is your just replacing the muffler from the axle back... With the cat back you're replacing everything from the cats back. Make sense? Lol.
Welcome.

You have almost the same mods as me minus the cams and gears. Do you find the rasp between 2500-3000 rpm's bad. If so what did you do to get rid of it? I was told to try resonators.
