Default Bumping the rev limiter

How many miles on your car, and how many times have you bumped it?

1300, 2X here

Default RE: Bumping the rev limiter

My last car was a famous BMW 4 cylinder, tweaked. Ran strong, but, you needed to wring it out to make it "happen".

GT, just so much fun hearing the engine rev, power, so you need to pay attention to the road a wee bit more than the BMW cause you are getting there faster!

So, 5.6k and the rev limiter keeps attacking me!

Default RE: Bumping the rev limiter

I hit the rev limiter twice just this morning! LOL

My gas milage has been crap this week.

I have 2500 miles on my lady right now...

On my way to work... I drive back roads... there is this one road that runs for like 3 miles.. very straight and flat. YOu can see a LONG way. At the time I drive to work in the AM, there is very very little traffic. So - - - Sometimes when I hit the strightaway I LOVE Snapping the throttle from 35mph and letting her rip! What a thrill!

Default RE: Bumping the rev limiter

I bumped the rev limiter at least 5-10 times in 2 months.

The problem is the great sound of this car...I shift by sound, but unlike my last car, at 6250rpm, the car doesn't really sound strained so I keep pushing it.

I've since raised the limiter on my car to 6500rpm, and I periodically look down at the tach now when driving aggressively

900 miles on the car and I'll probably never hit the rev limiter. I guess the V-6 isn't as rev happy or something.

I hit the rev limiter dozens of times on the Honda S2000 that I had before the Mustang. That one was either at 9000 or 9100 rpms. 6500 seems absolutely wimpy by comparison. There was no drop off in power to indicate time to shift.
