I guess the questions I would like to ask the owner are....
1. Was it a hit and run or did she stop.
2. Did she have insurance, and was it better than minimum coverage?
3. Did she drive a beater? *That would have been my luck*
I would have been PISSED! Not to mention the whole 400 miles part. In fact, I would demand the insurance company replace my car because it was only 1 week old and deny the repair. I would tell them congrats, they own a new car.

Man the first new car I bought was in 1995, a black Eagle Talon. i loved the car at the time. It had about 400 miles on it when some asshat in a beat to hell 60's station wagon rear ended me. Didn't do much damage, but creased the rear bumper. I was pissed, and i shat you not, when the dude got out of the beat up wagon he took the door off and laid it on the road! this was such a beater the DOORS WEREN'T ATTACHED. I knew what was coming next, he had no insurance.
He seemed nice, but just dirt poor. Had two little girls in the car crying with him standing there asking me not to call the police or he would get arrested. i ended up letting the dude drive away and was bothered every time i washed the car for the next two years i owned it.

a friend of mine"s dad hit a lady and his insurance paid dor the damaged and she was not hurt but got a big settlement from his insurance. She claims she cannot enjoy sex anymore because every time she closes her eyes she sees his car coming at her.Another guy i work would not fix his car to his satisfaction and got tmj from the wreck, he also told them she could not do oral sex because of the clinch when she was hit. They came across with the money without going to court. I told him about friends dad and thats how he came up with it and no way prove otherwise, plus it was the truth and she would swear to it
