I am currently running both resonators and hi-flow cats with MAC axlebacks. This is my "quiet" set-up. No trumpeting at all and it's actually louder than I anticpated.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. It sounds like either or will do me right. I think i will try the resonators. But i still would like to here which one would be the best. Resonators or Hi FLO catts.

The stares i get from BMW's and the sorts of drivers is pretty funny but taking the car on a 8 hour drive for vacation is a bit much with the trumpeting.

The resonators would probably better at controlling the sound and would be cheaper. Part and labor for resonators would be $150 to $250. To install cats you are looking at $325 to $400 parts and labor. I paid $145 parts and labor for my resonators and $325 for my cats parts and labor.

Im curious about how to quiet down a car with longtubes a little bit as well. If I could just slap on some axleback mufflers and keep my midmuffler M80s bolted up and have it sound good that would great. Right now the drone and super loudness is getting to be a bit much for daily driving!

X-pipe is the only way to eliminate trumpeting, H-pipe and straight pipes do not allow the exhaust to scavenge smoothly even with resonators, this is why installing an x-pipe will make your exhaust quieter than an H-pipe.

I have never read or heard that an X pipe is quieter than an H. I have read that they are both nearly identical when comparing how loud they are. I had an a prochamber w/hi-flows and replaced with an catted X. They are both pretty close in loudness.

I was going to say MACs but I am not sure if they would still drone with your set-ups. With mine, the MACs don't drone that much. Maybe pype violators would be a good choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Se7Zg-ZDXY

a prochamber is more a x-pipe then it is a H.

my understand with the x and the h pipe is that the x gives off that raspy sound and the h is more of the rumble.
