I think a lot of people are bitter about the new V6. Get over it. You have a '05-'10 GT and the V6 is close in power, sure. No, it's not as fast, doesn't have as much horsepower or torque, or that "V8 sound," but there is no need to try to put it down.
It is a perfect compromise between performance, practicality, and fuel economy. I think some people were a lot happier when the V6 was a piece of crap, so they could say "HEY, I GOT A GT, LOOK AT ME." But now, unless you got a 5.0, most non-enthusiasts would just be like, "So what, the V6 can keep up," and that makes some people insecure/pissed/sad/whatever.
No offense. Just what I think.

every years there's a new shiny that's faster, stronger, and prettier...Jay Leno can afford to get them all but I can't. You have to learn to be happy with what you got.

Well, I think it's great that Ford has made the Mustang stronger & stronger just in the past three model years. As for the new V-6, it's what Ford needs to stay competitive in the showrooms, sign of the times(for now-lol).
On the subject of the new V-6 vs the 4.6 3V, I had a little encounter a few nights ago with a white '11 convertible(automatic) and I was hoping I wouldn't get embarrassed by losing(even if by a bit), but I was relieved that I was able to pull around 3-4 cars on it. With these cars(both new V-6 & 4.6 3V) 100mph comes up really fast and that speed limiter on the V-6s kills the fun, the race was short(but sweet for me). None the less, the new V-6 is a performance car now, it will beat any stock pre '05 GT IMO. Wondering how a 4.6 3V would run with that new 6speed behind it(either auto or stick). I'm sure a 3V would be a regular low 13 sec car with that tranny.
