How to add aftermarket amp to Shaker 500?
I've searched, but no clear answer...
For a variety of reasons, I want to keep the Shaker 500 HU. I have replaced the door and rear speakers with Kicker KS680 all around. For now, I'm keeping the stock 8" door subs, although I'll probably buy the Shelby versions eventually.
I want to add an aftermarker amp for the speakers only, and possibly an equalizer. I know about the Shelby amp, which comes with it's own harness for easy hookup. If I go with a different amp, how does it hook-up to the Shaker HU? Is there a special harness that makes it easy like the Shelby setup or do I have to do some splicing? Anyone have a link that describes exactly how to do it?
Also, if I want to add an equalizer, how does that connect to the Shaker and the aftermarket amp?
Sorry for the very general questions. My main goal is to keep the Shaker HU, but add more power, clarity, and EQ control. I could just get the Shelby system, but that does not give me the EQ control I want. I figured if I could add an aftermarket amp and an EQ/processor, I'd be set. Any help is appreciated.
