3.73 or 4.10?
im in the market for new gears. i have 3.55 right now and i want to upgrade to 3.73 or 4.10..the 3.55 are good but i want little more performace out of the car. it's not a daily driver but do take it on road trip ab one a month. usually a 300 mile trip on the highway. i do drive ab 80-90 mph. im look for any input that would help me decide. Thanks..

This has been talked about at least a million times before and there's loads of great input and info on this subject ...use the "SEARCH" button when you have a minute. Speaking from experience with 4:10's on the street, I think they are great and i just love them. I'm also on the highway constantly and with a 5 speed in 5th gear it's only reving 2450 rpms at 70 mph. So, while 3:73's might be better suited for you if you like driving at constant high(er) highway speeds, you probably won't feel much of a difference on the street going from 3:55 to 3:73....
Just my 2 Cents...!!

3.73 seems to be the consensus among gear sizes. I may be wrong but gears really help out more so in the start-off than anything. Larger gears would most likely hurt you on highway trips where there is not much starting and stopping.
I could be wrong, so don't take my word. I do know that out of all other threads here and other forums, 3.73 gears are the favorite

I have 4.10 on a daily driver. I don't do highway as much, but since you only do.a road trip once a month, I doubt the minor decrease in mpg will break your pocket book. One thing I am leary of is just running at the higher rpms on a constant basis.

I have 410's and i have driven to atlanta and winsconsin. I got around 22mpg. So the drop isnt that bad. I get 20 just driving around. This is my dd well kind of im out of state b/c of work for three weeks at a time and then off for two weeks. If performance is what u want u will be better off with 410's. Dont think about it too much and just do ithttps://mustangforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_deadhorse.gif
