Yep, they are plastic. I bought set and resold them for that very reason. I am heading down the same path as you and will be going with a custom set from billet badges. They have a slightly different one on their website that says "Powered by 4.6"... which is what I am leaning towards.

But aren't the factory badges plastic as well? The don't "look" plastic so I'm pretty happy with them. Plastic or not, I'm sure they'll last and they look great.

Dave, the badges look awesome and add a nice touch to your ride! Ive been wanting these for awhile now, but I have such a hard time justifying the price. I took off my GT badges and put on the Tri-Bars for the "classic look", but damn, your pics have me thinking again...

I wanted these for a few reasons:

1. They're hard to get a hold of so that makes them cooler once you get them.

2. I saw a Shelby GT drive past me a while back that had them and they looked AWESOME. Once I saw them that day in person, I knew I had to have them.

The price is strictly "supply and demand". They know that there aren't a lot of them out there, the demand is high, so they know they can jack up the price.

It's kind of like buying a G-Shock. The "limited edition" models are higher in demand, cost the same to make, there are less of them, so they cost 10 times more than a normal G-Shock....

Damn, they are $129 now?! They were $109 just yesterday.

I know the only way Ford dealers can get them is by making the contact themselves and giving the customers authentic Shelby GT VIN#. I wonder if a Shelby owner needs to get them replaced if they are just as expensive from the source?

...speaking of which, we should find some Shelby owners that need..."replacement" emblems :-)
