I too am going S/C with a Whipple when I get back from Afghanistan next year. In the meantime, I started doing some "bolt ons" to help out...Here's what I've got:
CAI/Tune
Long Tube headers
4.10 gears
FRPP Hot Rod cams
Hurst shifter
Lower Control Arms
Steeda lowering springs
Magnaflow Exhaust with O/R Hpipe
By far, the best PERFORMANCE mod I did was the 4.10s. No horsepower gains but it gets that car ripping alot quicker than the stock gearing. The CAI/Tune was a great mod as well. Freed up a good bit of power.
My FAVORITE mod though was the Hot Rod Cams/Long tubes combo. Made my car sound BEASTLY!! Not a bad mod cost wise either... $700 for the cams, $200 for the LTs (boostbrothers.com) and $900 to install all of it.
Car dyno'd 331hp with an email tune and running very very rich. I think I should be able to get around 350rwhp with a A/F adjustment.
Here's a video of how the car sounds:

and on the dyno (and no, the big dude is not me lol):

Good luck man!!

Thanks so very much for all the input. I have not quite decided if I will go with CAI/tune or gears first, but those are probably the first two I will do. If I am able to drum up enough dough I will probably throw exhaust in there too. Then save up...
The plans are to eventually take it to the track. I have always wanted to give that a shot and have always loved tinkering with my toys.
Thanks again and I'll keep you posted as I go.
Lupo (and other military) thank you and God bless you for your service.
