Wasn't there issues with Ford continuing to use the Shelby name? Maybe the Boss will replace the Shelby. So selling a car called the GT500 without the Shelby in front looses its panache and they use the BOSS name instead.
I think the 011 Shelby has already lost its panache. I didn't see one on the option list.

I personally dont think that they will drop the GT500. Like a few others have stated, the Boss will probably be an improved suspension tune and possibly supercharged. My guess would be like 460HP or so. Even without a supercharger, if they decide to release a Coyote with Direct Injection with hotter cams they could get to about 435-440 HP. In my experience with Lexus it would be WISE for them to install an oil catch can in the PCV system AND use port fuel injectors in with their D.I. (similar to the Lexus 3.5L V-6 in the IS and GS)

I just read this on the Mustang Heaven site:

Originally the announcement was supposed to have been made in mid to late July.

So if I buy a 5.0 next year then it will be outdated and slow compared to this!

Hey, you're catching on!!

That's why I bought my 2010 GT (knowing the 2011's would be out in a month or two with the 5.0). I got a GREAT deal on the 2010 and can drive it for a few years before trading it on the next 'big deal'.

There's always going to be something faster and cooler just around the corner. I've owned several Mustangs and each time I got a newer one it performed better than the one before and had more features.

The BOSS will be the hot car...until the new body style comes out and IT will be the old slow one too!!

I'm also sure the BOSS will cost more depending on how much more power it has. Could the BOSS just be very similar to the Standard GT with just a smaller increase in power like the early 2000s Mach 1s were? Basically same car as the GT with just some minor tweaks.

I can't imagine the Boss being 45 grand though. If so you might as well just buy a GT500 then.

its supposed to be the 'stripped out' version. starting price was supposed to be in the low 30k region. We will find out soon enough though.

I was told Ford is making some sort of announcement August 13th. It makes sence that the Boss should be it...
