Default New Mustang Advice...

I’ve been lurking on this board for some time, and this could be my first post. I have a few questions, and any advice would be great as I am looking to place an order this year for my first Mustang.

First, to all in the Northeast US, how is it as a daily driver? I’m looking at the 5.0, and I see what the average gas mileage has been for people. But how are they with the weather, and the roads in winter? Passable, or just too dangerous to rely on as daily transportation?

Also, when does Ford typically start to offer lower finance rates, and when do they stop taking orders for the current model year. A lower rate could mean some nice upgrades for me. In a perfect world I would order what I want and get the reduced financing. But I would think special offers would only apply to dealer stock. Anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks, RJ

Everyone talks about cars being bad or good in snow, etc.. It's 100% driver/tires. As long as you realize that you're driving a powerful rear wheel drive car and take it slow with some good snow or all season tires, you'll be fine. A little common sense and judgment goes a long way as well. There are days that I wouldn't drive "any" car depending on what it's doing outside. Toss some weight in the trunk if you need to. Or buy a $500.00 beater for those days.

Hope ya get one.

I realize my car is no 5.0/V8 but we had some ridiculous snow storms (for us) here this winter and I still got around. Good tires and taking it easy and you'll be alright

I imagine the smarter traction and stability control on the 2011's make them more competant in snow than previous incarnations.

I got 0% apr when I ordered mine plus the $500 credit and A plan, but that expired back in june as an early purchasing incentive.

Check edmunds, they usually have pretty up to date global rebates and financing options, for local deals you will have to check with your dealer.

I'm curious to see how mine does this winter in Michigan. I've driven 2wd trucks with no problem, so now I'll have a more weight balanced but lower ground clerance. I'll probably pick up some snow tires and steelies for the winter just for some insurance.

When does Ford typically stop taking orders for the current model year? I would like to wait until March to place my order. That way I'll have an idea how much I can spend on the car.
