Unsafe tunes - why?

I'm pretty sure Ford engineers wrote the Whipple tunes. There are 3 that I'm aware of. The non-intercooled 400 HP tune, HO 500 HP, and HO 550 HP. The 550 was introduced after the 500 and is the standard HO tune.

I'd suggest downloading the pdf Ford Racing Parts catalouge and reading some of the info about how they write a tune and all the testing that is done at different elevations, temps, barametric pressure, etc.

You are correct that the FRPP/Whipple tune is an excellent tune.
