Default 3.7L and 5.0L direct injection in the future?

Does anyone here know anything about if Ford is going to implement Direct Injection into the new motors? I heard they ran out of time because they wanted to rush the 5.0 to market to beat the Camaro. Not sure that sounded like what happened, so I was wondering if anyone here knew 1) If they're planning on DI for the 3.7 and 5.0 in the near future and 2) When would it be.

I think it'd be sweet to eek at least another 15-20HP out of the 3.7L and probably the same for the 5.0.

320 for the V6 would be kicking, and 435 for the GT would be badass.

In a very well written, indepth articel in 5.0 Mustang magazine, the new 5.0 was designed with the capabilities to accept direct injection. Nothing was mentioned that it was going to be a definite addition, but the capability to easily add it is.

I hope the 2013/2014 redesign includes the direct injected 5.0.

^what he said my bet is chevy is going to up the camaros a bit for next year, so ford might follow suit by say giving the 3.7&5.0 a better factory tune&freer flowing mufflers nothing major say 10-20hp bump and then leave it at that until the redesign. At which time I am willing to bet direct injection bumping both engines output by more than 35-50 hp, I would also lay money on their being multiple turbo options on the table at that time, also expect if it doesn't happen sooner to see sequential transmissions either standard on hi perf models or optional maybe even on the base cars aswell. Some weight reduction through use of more composite materials ie hood/roof/fenders etc may aslo be thrown in you just never know with ford these days

From what I read, it wasnt cost effective. It was stated that the gains would be minimal considering the cost for engineering and tooling. My understanding is that they took other approaches to horsepower instead. Whether they switch in the future only Ford knows.

the engines are built to accommodate it. so once ford finds ample reasoning to apply the tech and once they got a proper tune down we will get DI engines.
