Yeah, scratch that.
It was a bad advice.

Better question since you don't seem to be sure of which way to go on this (due to sound system or it would be a simple choice) Do you NEED to do this?

Not at all. However, once I start scratching for ET's without supercharging or gutting the interior, moving the battery sounds like a good way to redistribute weight.

If I were you, and obviously I have a different outlook on modifying cars than you do. I would remove the subs and put in a light weight battery under the hood, mounted as low as possible. And when you go to the track, I would also remove your spare tire, jack, tools etc.

How much do you think your subs/audio equipment weigh?

The idea is to move 40 lbs or whatever away from nose of car and relocate around the rear axle, where a little more weight can help. As stated, if you move the battery anywhere from its factory location, it needs special housing/venting and the kill switch (as far as NHRA goes anyway)

Old pic of trunk, showing battery box.

Did you have to drill for the kill switch ... (2007 Roush Street / Strip ) ?
Was it easy ? Which brand switch and Battery box did u use ?

thx

I have mine in the trunk mainly because of supercharger expansion tank in its place.

I don't do any of the work on the car. It stays at the speed shop about 100 miles away, so cannot help you on installation. Here's a recent pic though.

Little messy but you can see the fuel cell now located next to full size battery, in trunk. The methanol kit that was where fuel cell is now, is being relocated. So happens, the stock location for the battery in the Viper is also in the trunk.

Yeah I sorta noticed that daily driver ... LOL !!! Saw one this summer at a car show ... very nice. That pic helps somewhat for sure ... I'll have to wait till a nice day and have a look at the rear badge and see if I can come up with something like that if I decide to move the battery to the rear. Thanks for all the feedback ...
