OPINION REQUESTED BREAKING IN MY 2011 GT
I made the plunge. I traded my 2007 GT for a 2011 GT Premium, 3:73 gears (race red). I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I’ve never been patient when it comes to Mustangs, and finally broke down. Nonetheless, I’m already in love with the car with only 46 miles on the odometer. Can you believe the stealership actually gave me $19,100 for my trade? I have to give Mike Shad Ford, Orange Park prompts for really working with me and having a great and friendly environment with a professional attitude.
I haven’t got on it yet. I’ve heard various opinions on how to break in a new car:
1. Drive it like you stole it.
2. Drive it like you normally drive.
3. Drive it easy for the first 1500 miles.
What’s your opinion on break in?

Some say drive it like a raped ape but I drive mine like gramps/grannie. In this fashion I have never had any problems down the road but I'm sure you will will get a split down the middle ie easy/hard. Congrats and enjoy your new Pony.

Modern engines are pretty much good to go from the factory.
That said, I drove mine fairly easy, 'till about 250-300 miles, then drove it like normal. Not like I stole it, but I got on it a bit here and there, ran it to 120mph, etc. I did change out the oil at 2k miles.
Now, with 4k mile, it hauls *****.

Great advice. I'll run it up here and there. Man, you can feel the power in these cars. seems even 5th has good power. It hauls now. I can't image once it get's broken. I've had lightnings, cobra's, 350Z, etc...None have compared to this straight from the factory.

Read motomans tec.http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm. And then make up your own mind, he has some well documented proof on different engines that the "Beat the **** out of it" method is best for modern fine cyl honed engines.
That being said, if you go that route, change your oil right after the first "beat the **** out of it session" then change again at 300-500miles and finally again at 1500miles. Ultimately though it's your car, you spent your money on it. Do what makes you feel more comfortable.
Also, you could talk to a few (I wouldn't talk to just one) Ford tech and pick there brain about it.
