The red and black edition is a color scheme of the Laguna Seca edition. Of which, it will be in EXTREMELY limited production and SPECIFICALLY meant to be a full on race car (that happens to barely be street legal).

The reasoning behind the color scheme is simple: ITS A RACE CAR. Using imagination, add a number and sponsor decals all over it and voila! Factory ordered, VIN equipped RACE CAR.

yes on its own its kinda ugly, but fully decked out in race trim and sponsor decals? Yeah its one MEAN car.

The "regular" Boss 302 is very sexy, and personally I really like the overall look of the package. But I personally still want a GT500.

Prove to me where it is "barely street legal" are you serious? ... have you seen a "full on race car" looks nothing like that. But on the most serious note I am EXTREMELY disappointed in various ways about the new Boss, I pointed out a lot of my views in another post but if you think your GT500 is a waste ... trade it in for the boss next year I'm sure the dealer wouldn't mind too much

OK My bad, perhaps full on race car was a little much. Does "Heavily modified for optimum track performance" work better? I defy you thought to tell me that the Laguna Seca edition ISNT meant to live at a track.

I hope so, getting the GT500 back down to $46K would be nice. Although, this may be incentive enough for dealers to ask for more on the sticker before negotiating a price.

Reading the Motor Trend article, they slipped a little blurb in there that those Recaro seats were designed for the GT500. So I'm guessing the 2012 GT500 is going to have quite a few surprises in store for everyone. That might be why they stopped production of the 2011 GT500 at 5500 units; to possibly retool and work on the changes for the 2012. According my my dealer, the 2012 GT500 won't even be available until actually in 2012 as a 2012 model. And it also makes sense that they'd halt production during the run of the BOSS 302 considering that with the Laguna Seca package it will probably annihilate the GT500, including the SVT Package equipped version, around a track of any type. Because let's be honest, the GT500 isn't exactly fairing too well on the sanctioned race circuits whereas the Mustang GT is kicking all kinds of butt weekly in the form of 911s, M3s, etc. Oddly enough, the "regular" Mustang GT is doing better than the 302 in Grand Am; for now. I'm sure once they get the kinks worked out of the 302, it will be a dominating force.

But back to what you were saying, I think we're all gonna be left with dropped jaws and bug eyes with the next GT500. (Or possibly it'll be called Cobra again considering I have more SVT badging than Shelby badging on mine. Or maybe they're gonna drop a BOSS 429 bomb on us! ) Exciting times ahead. Go Ford! Oh, and rumor has it that a Fusion SHO is coming next year.

I don't know about this car. Seems to be a lot of marketing. Have they given a msrp yet? I bet it will be pricey.
