Default trans slipping?

so I left car overnight in second gear without parking brake set(I forgot). my driveway has a 10 degree grade and last night I pulled all the way up. this morning I found my car almost half way in the road...wouldn't that be something I could take to the dealership for? I have a 100k warrenty on it with just over 80k on it. thank yall

lol no, thats pretty normal man. The only thing keeping your car from moving when parked in gear without the brake on a hill is the engine compression. Which is why you didn't find it down the street plowed into something. Over time on a good enough grade it will roll eventually.

Put it in 1st and use your brake.

Do you often NOT engage the e-brake with a manual or was it simply a brain fart?

I suppose it's like the first time I left the drain plug out of the boat. Everyone told me that I'd never do it again and they've been right. Maybe this is the same thing for you...

congrats on living up to your forum name!

anyways, ya, that happens, once i parked on a steep hill with my mustang in first AND the emergencey break on and it rolled at a walking speed, NOT COOL, scared the **** out of me. never parked there again. this is the only downside to owning a manual. that and bad traffic

did i spell "owning" right? looks funky i think it has an E in it but not sure. too lazy to check.

I'm guessing that the clutch didn't slip, the engine turned over however number of times that result in moving that far.

I believe the rods and engine compression were your brake in this instance.
