Yes, the back seat has come in handy many times.. Tough choice though, but since your option is looking at an LS1 or a 5.0.. I'd say 5.0 wins that decision, better interrior and a tiny bit faster if it was an LS3 vette then it would be a much harder choice.. ofcourse, you should be able to find an LS1 vette for well under 20k.. but I dont care for their interior.. and you had the older z06 right? I think you can find those for low 20s.. vs the 30-33k that a 2011 5.0 should cost.. (if they want more than that I wouldn't buy it).. I think those z06s are a bit faster than the new 5.0 aren't they?

Right now.. if i were going to buy a car for 35k or less i'd look at LS3 vettes, 2007-09 GT500s and the new 5.0 but would have a tough time deciding what to get.

04-07 CTS-V with low mileage. Has the back seat for the baby seat and (04-05) has the Z06 motor with the 6 speed manual. Best of both worlds and cheaper than the new Mustang. I just sold my 04 V with 25k miles for around $20-21k and it was spotless.

I needed a daily driver (100 mile round trip to work) and that was not for a V. The Mustang is better at that and better mileage.

He has a charger R/T for 4door stuff.. he is looking for a toy. which.. if he gets a base LS1 in good shape for under 20k and wanted to spend another 10k on it he could have one fast car.. or get a Termi.. saw some 600-800whp ones for sale in the 20k range. I think for me.. I'd actually like an automatic paddle-shifting LS3 vette.

Has your wife driven the new 5.0? If not, go back to the dealer and take her for a spin in one. It might help sway her towards the 5.0... assuming that's what you want.

What is it about the Vette that she's really drawn too? The Mustang is more practical, is faster, handles nearly as well... and in my opinion looks better than the C5 Vettes.

well since he does have the 4 door car practicallity isn't exactly an issue.. but I agree, it is fun to take 3 people at once for a ride instead of just 1

Hehe thats funny. I just bought an 04 CTS-V with 29k miles . Fun car. Not nearly as fast as the Saleen . . .but still great power and with the aftermarket exhaust the sound is sexy.

If the OP's toss-up is between a Coyote 5.0 or a Vette, and he is seriously considering Mustang, why is he limiting himself only to a GT? I say get a damn GT500!

C5 Z06 Vettes do 4.0 0-60 and mid 12's with a trap of around 116. Great HP to weight ratio and good traction with P295/35ZR-18 rear tires.

It's not that she wants the Vette over the Mustang, she just thinks I won't be happy with anything but a Vette.

Even if they gave me a Vette right now I'd sell it. Cars are about who you are too me, my car is a symbol of who I am. I'm not a Vette guy I'm a mustang guy and like having a 40k car that will bring it. Even if I hit the lotto tomorrow I wouldn't sell this car.........probably buy a shelby but this baby would stay with me.
