Default 07 Has New Stable Mate

Wifey got a new ride! A used 2010 V6 vert. Now my GT has some company in the garage. I need some advise though I have never owned a convertible, the two bottom photos show a few cracks in the vynl top, is this something I could turn in as a warranty claim or not? I have also noticed on both doors when they are opened the glass retracts like the coupes but they will barely catch the top upon opening the doors is this normal? Some input would be helpful. Thanks.

unless there is an extended warranty which the former owner forgot about, you gotta pay for any issues on a 2006.
Cloth tops are the better of the 2, in case you need a new roof. But those little cracks are nothing to be concerned about.

Mainly, you'll just need to make sure the roof's mechanicals get greased in the right spots and that you close the top first, latch it, then roll up the windows, with the rear windows going up first.

The car I was referring to was the 2010 and it will be under warranty until we hit 36,000 the other is a 2007 which is also still under warranty. I can hit the pivot points on the top with grease my bigger concern is that the previous owner did not take care of the top exterior properly and now it my be cracking due to the lack of UV protection with products made by 303 or others.

Congrats to your wife, I'd take it in and ask them about it. You have nothing to lose!

Need some 2010-2011 convertible owners to chime in about the glass catching on the top's weather striping and the cracked vynl top please.

congrats on the vert!

Sorry, fine print: no warranty on vert top or clutch.

Get a tire shine sponge and some Mothers or Optimum Protectant and wipe the whole top down, then hit the white that's showing with a black sharpie.

Now that's the response I was looking for, great info! Thanks Margarita Girl for tips. I will give the sharpie a try. Is this normal for the top to crack after 1 year?

No. My top is 5 years old and has no wear spots. The owner may have left it out in the hot sun with Armor All on it or used harsh detergent to wash it, who knows.
