Question Questions I've always wondered may sound stupid. TCS

1. Can it hurt the car to turn the TCS on or off when you are in gear with a manual transmission?

2. I was looking at that TCS mod and was wondering... I always forget to turn mine off too. I bet I would remember though if I could paint the damn button red with something. I get nervous when it comes to messing with wires or electrical stuff in my car. Worried I would mess something up or even not do something right and start a damn fire or something.
Anyone of of a way to do this neatly? (Paint the button red or something?)

1) You can turn TCS on or off at any time with no harm to anything but your sanity.

2) I'm sure you can but then you'll be saying "I forgot to push that damned red button " instead of saying "I forgot to push that damned TCS button".

Well red catches the eye and I think it would work.
I just don't know what kind of paint to use and how to paint it so the "off" light will not be covered with paint so you cant see it.

Another reason for not doing the switch is because I have one other person that drives the car and the TCS being off is bad for that person.

Just teach yourself to turn it off. Leave a note card on your dash or seat saying to turn it off, and put it there when you leave the car. A week of that and it will be routine and you wont need the card.

I can understand if you want to do a burn-out, or you are after all *****-to-the-wall acceleration, you would turn off TCS.

But for non-racing, non-acceleration exhibition driving (daily driving), is it better to have it turned off?

One of my previous aftermarket tunes shut off the TCS automatically. I had to press it to turn it on...

I'm of the mind set, that I leave it on, unless I want to launch aggressively, or get the rear end loose.

But I typically drive around, not spinning tires, and scratching 2nd gear etc.

Turn car on, push TC button, and put seatbelt on. I do it without even thinking about it. I find myself many times pushing it again if it is raining to turn it back on.
